My Cybersecurity Journey
A Personal Thesis
Abstract
Cybersecurity has become one of the most important fields in the digital age. As technology continues to evolve, cyber threats are increasing in both complexity and frequency. This thesis explores my cybersecurity journey, including how I developed an interest in information security, acquired technical skills, gained practical experience, and built a professional career in cybersecurity. The journey highlights the importance of continuous learning, ethical responsibility, and hands-on practice in becoming a successful cybersecurity professional.
Chapter 1: Introduction
Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computer systems, networks, applications, and data from unauthorized access, attacks, and damage. My journey into cybersecurity began with a curiosity about how websites, servers, and networks function. Initially, I was fascinated by ethical hacking and penetration testing, which led me to explore the broader field of information security.
The purpose of this thesis is to document my learning process, challenges, achievements, and future goals within cybersecurity.
Objectives
- To understand the fundamentals of cybersecurity.
- To develop practical skills in penetration testing and vulnerability assessment.
- To gain experience in malware removal and website security.
- To establish a professional career in cybersecurity.
- To contribute to creating a safer digital environment.
Chapter 2: Early Interest in Cybersecurity
My interest in cybersecurity started when I learned about cyberattacks affecting businesses and individuals worldwide. I became curious about how hackers exploit vulnerabilities and how security professionals defend systems against attacks.
I began learning:
